ABOUT
BIOGRAPHY
David Rios was born in Iquitos, capital of the Peruvian Amazon. He lived the first 9 years of his life in the jungle learning about and loving the trees, animals and the people of the Amazon. Later, David studied Biology at the National University of the Peruvian Amazon, increasing his knowledge of the jungle. He has worked in the tourism industry for more than 35 years, guiding for several well-known lodges in the region, as well as leading hundreds of independent jungle and sportsfishing trips. He has been given recommendations in past editions of Rough Guide Peru, Lets Go, and South American Handbook and recommended on Trip Advisor. To read the August 14, 2012 recommendation, click here.
David has guided visitors from more than 30 countries around the world, and speaks fluent Spanish, English, and some Portuguese. In addition to his primary work as a guide, because of his English fluency, David has been sought after as a translator for visiting doctors and missionaries. His first love, though, is fishing for Tucunarè and roaming the vast green Amazon rainforest.
David's passion for his "selva" and the creatures inhabiting it are obvious and contagious. He invites you to come see this new Natural Wonder of the World:

Dear Visitor,
The jungle is among the most beautiful landscapes of the planet. And is considered to be "lungs of the world". The diversity of life -- trees, exotic birds, strange-looking fish, and the warm, welcoming humans living in this land -- make this green carpet magical and mysterious. I am an experienced guide who would love to show you the charms of the Amazon jungle: its culture, flora, and fauna. And if you're a fisherman I cannot wait to guide you to the catch of your dreams, whether peacock bass, arawana, or catfish, as well as taking you up close and personal with our famous piranha.
Come and join me in any of the trips I organize and guide and get ready for an authentic and fantastic adventure in the heart of the Peruvian Amazon. An experience you will always remember as one of your best!
Sincerely Yours,
David Rios
